ACCOMMODATION
Most often, foreign students choose to stay in residences belonging to universities. This is the most economy option. On average a monthly accommodation fee is 5 thousand rubles.
But residences may differ in the level of comfort and the availability of amenities in the room. Check these issues when booking.
Students can also live in rented apartments. Depending on the region, rent can cost from 20 to 50 thousand rubles per a month. Many students prefer to live in rented accommodation with mates in order to save money.
FOOD
If you cook yourself and eat at home, then you will need from 10 thousand rubles a month. Please note that food prices may vary significantly in different stores, so if you want to save money, choose economy class stores.
If you eat in a cafe, then a standard business lunch will cost 450-600 rubles.

MOBILE AND INTERNET
A monthly mobile tariff with unlimited Internet in Russia is, on average, from 500 rubles. After arrival in Russia, you will need to buy a local SIM-card and top it up.
If you live in a rented apartment and want to have additional Internet, then it will cost you about 500-600 rubles a month. This amount, as a rule, also includes a broad range of Russian and international television channels.
HEALTHCARE
Free medical care is provided only in case of emergency when calling ambulance. In any other case, foreign students must acquire a voluntary health insurance policy after arrival. Insurance companies offer insurance policies for a year for 5,000-14,000 rubles. A passport and a migration card are enough to make out a policy.
SPORTS
All universities have sports facilities, which students can use for free, as a rule. In some universities swimming pools and gyms are paid, but the cost is usually nominal.
ENTERTAINMENT
A theater ticket price is from 1000 to 3000 rubles depending on the seat and status of the theater. Entrance tickets to museums are from 200 rubles and higher, and cinema tickets are from 500 rubles and higher.
